Some teenagers from Connecticut are helping to share used baseball equipment with those in need, and State Representative Fred Camillo is making sure it gets to them.
Recently, Camillo joined forces with members of Greenwich High’s Youth Equipment Sharing (YES) Club leader Roman Orlando and others to collect 243 pieces of equipment including bats, gloves, and balls set to go to youth baseball programs in the Greenwich, Connecticut area.
Camillo stopped by the club’s headquarters and filled a pickup truck with baseball equipment raised through drives organized by students in the group.
In all, students collected over 700 pieces of various sports equipment at the drives.
Camillo’s role is to find suitable homes for the baseball equipment.
California Youth League to Receive Materials from Dodger Stadium
Youth baseball players in Simi Valley, California are about to experience a bit of what it’s like to be a Dodger.
Turf and other materials from the stadium are set to be used at the new Simi Valley Youth Baseball Field next week through a community service project from business P. W. Gillibrand.
League officials are thrilled that the material will be reused at the field, breathing new life into the facility.
Dodger great Tommy Lasorda will also be the guest speaker on Saturday for the league’s opening weekend.
