The Breakthrough Series is coming to a location near you.

USA Baseball and Major League Baseball recently announced the annual series, which will expand to five regional locations in 2016.

The Breakthrough Series is meant to promote 300 of the country’s top high school baseball players to pro and college scouts and recruiters, and will also include women’s softball for the first time ever.

This is the ninth annual series, and will begin in Tempe, Arizona from January 16-18 at the Tempe Diablo Minor League Complex, which is also the pre-season home of the L.A. Dodgers. Other camps will be held in June and July in Cincinnati, Houston, Bradenton, Florida, and in Cary, North Carolina at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.

The event is free of cost for ‘by-invite-only’ participants.

Barstow Youth Camp Features Major Leaguers

They’re doing big things in the desert.

Barstow, California native and current Angles bench coach Dino Ebel held the fifth annual Dino Ebel Baseball Clinic at the Robert A. Sessions Memorial Park recently alongside Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Aaron Sanchez, Chicago Cubs prospect Austyn Willis, and Cincinnati Reds prospect Amir Garrett, all of whom have local connections.

Ebel, who is in his 11th year with the Angels and third as a bench coach, hopes to someday in the future be a major league manager. He holds the camps in hope that he will someday manage some young talent from Barstow.

While coaching local youths on fielding, hitting, and pitching, mentors also spread one clear message — to not listen to the doubters.
